Emma, Community Climate Action Worker with Youghal Blue and Green Community Network, was delighted to join a recent Nature Walk with members of the Migrant Community Hub. This took place at the Slob Bank and was led by Karen Loxton from SECAD.
The walk was very informative in finding out more about the wide variety of plant and bird life that share this local space. A particular highlight was discussing the names of various plants in different languages as well as some of the interesting properties, uses and related folklore of these plants that were known to the group.
We also all collected small plant samples as we encountered them, allowing us to examine these in detail and creating beautiful 3-D collages.
