Community Updates: Bike Week, Energy Hub, Network Meetings and more

Exciting updates and events happening in our community. Posted: 09/04/2024

Here’s a roundup of what’s happening:

1. Youghal Bike Week: Join us for Youghal Bike Week, taking place from May 12th to 19th. The week-long celebration of cycling will culminate in a group ride at Green Park on May 19th at 1pm. All are welcome to attend and participate in this fun and healthy activity.
2. Energy Info Hub: The Energy Info Hub at Cumann Na Daoine is now open every Thursday from 11am to 1pm. If you’re interested in learning more about solar energy, retrofitting, electric vehicles, and available grants, be sure to stop by and speak with Mark. He’s here to help answer any questions you may have.
3. Network Meeting: Our next Network meeting will take place on April 24th at the Green Park entrance at 7pm. This month’s meeting will feature a walk and talk event, as well as a demonstration by Pobalscoil. Our May and June meetings will be outdoor tour/foraging events, so be sure to mark your calendars.
4. New Horticulture Course: A new horticulture course will begin on April 25th from 4-6pm at the Community Garden. Led by Selvi, this course is a great opportunity to learn more about gardening and growing your own food. Space is limited, so be sure to book your place with Grainne.
5. Youghal Blue and Green Community Network Show: Tune in to the Youghal Blue and Green Community Network Show on CRY every Monday evening at 7pm. We’re currently looking for a volunteer to voice up environmental tips for the show. If you’re interested in helping out, please contact Mark.

6. Climate Action Week: Although it’s a few months away, we’re already planning for Climate Action Week, which takes place from October 1st to 20th. We’re encouraging all members to consider offering an activity to the public during this week. If you have an idea for an activity, please let us know and we can provide support.
