Our first ever Zero Waste Festival on October 1st was a great success and our thanks to everyone who attended. A partnership between The Blue & Green Network, VOICE Ireland and Youghal GAA, there was an air of enthusiasm and ideas all over the place!
The stage was set with drumming from Pat Coughlan with young (and old!) participants. Throughout the day, cookery demonstrations from Oonagh Poynton, clothes swap from Seapink Vintage and arts workshops from Martha Cashman and Eileen McGoldrick formed the backdrop for some fun learning about composting, bike maintenance , growing your own veg and the best ways to recycle. The Return for Change trailer was demonstrated and we look forward to seeing it in action in 2023!
Cork County Council gave the festival support, including free kitchen waste caddies and cardboard poop-scoopers free for attendees. Coffee and cake from Grillmore provided the perfect accompaniment as around 60 people passed through the event.
We’re looking forward to our Zero Waste Festival 2023, and our thanks to everyone who attended, and who supported this new initiative.
