In the context of our work on climate justice,CWI has been doing some work on COP26 recently. We circulated theCWI COP26 Brief and the CWI Statement to Minister Ryan as head of the Irish delegation to COP26, and these are available to download below.
TheClimate Action Plan 2021: Securing Our Futurewas published on Thursday, November 4th, 2021. The Plan outlines the likely impacts of climate change here and across the globe, stating that the impact of climate change will be felt by every individual, household, and community in Ireland.
CWI has produced a brief Guide to the Climate Action Plan from a climate justice, just transition, and community development perspective. Please note, the Guide is descriptive, designed to provide some indication to CWI members and others of the elements in the Plan that might have an impact on community workand on the communities with which wework. We will be developing a more analytical piece at a slightly later date.
In addition, on November 10th, Minister Eamon Ryan and Minister Joe’Brien announced theCommunity Climate Action Programme, with an associated budget of €60 million over three years. You can read the announcementhereand further information on the fund is available on thePobal website.
