Climate Reality Europe – Team Ireland Encourages Training as Part of Response to Climate Emergency
9th August 2021:Climate Reality Europe – Team Irelandis encouraging everyone to educate themselves about climate change on foot of today’s publication of the Sixth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which warns that global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions is a ‘code red for humanity’. As part of former US Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project,Climate Reality Europe – Team Irelandis inviting everyone to take a first step in understanding the climate emergency by applying for a free virtual training programme with Gore and a team of thought leaders, activists, and scientists. By training to join theClimate Reality Leadership Corpsparticipants will become part of a global community of world changers working to solve the climate crisis and build a just and healthy future for the Earth.
Registrationopened today for the training which will be held online this October 16th to 24th. Participants will be introduced to the science of climate change; the impact increasing temperatures have on our planet; and steps we can take to bring about the change that’s needed in the face of such a threat. The training is free of charge and participants are asked to carry out some positive steps to help combat climate change after the training has ended.
Climate Reality Leaders all over Ireland who trained with Al Gore in person and online over the past number of years are also available to give presentations to community groups, schools, state agencies and businesses to explain climate change in a simple and interactive way. All presentations are free of charge and can be requested by emailingclimate.reality.

The identification charts shown you today were fromThe field studies council– they have lots of great ID charts for everything from plants to tracking mammals.The National Biodiversity Data Centrealso have a number of different ID swatches which have the extra benefit of focusing on Irish species – very handy and great for kids too.
On Aug 22nd we attended sand art making at the front strand in Youghal. A wonderful day and image of an otter – from our local habitat. Images at the links provided by Martha:
